An Object in Motion.

Most speakers are black boxes designed to be hidden away. The SP-01 demands to be seen, yet effortlessly blends into its surroundings. It is a minimalist, high-quality acrylic mirror catching the light of your room. The moment you connect and play music, it becomes a living acoustic object.

Because it projects sound in a full 360-degree ambient field, you don’t sit “in front” of the music—you sit inside it.

The Technology: Exciting the surface

Traditional speakers use a cone that moves back and forth to push air in a single direction. The KODE SP-01 works entirely differently.

Using a precision-tuned audio exciter mounted to the back of a 3mm acrylic mirror, the SP-01 induces microscopic bending waves across the entire surface. The mirror itself acts as the acoustic membrane.

• Omnidirectional Sound: Instead of a narrow “sweet spot,” the SP-01 distributes sound evenly throughout the entire room. The audio stays clear, rich, and detailed whether you are standing directly in front of it or sitting in the corner.
• The Material Choice: We chose high-grade acrylic over traditional glass not just for its impact resistance, but for its unique acoustic flexibility. It flexes precisely enough to deliver crisp highs and warm, resonant mid-tones.

At KODE, we believe that true luxury lies in restraint. Small is beautiful, as E.F. Schumacher said in 1973. The SP-01 was developed with the R-ladder of the circular economy as guideline, focusing heavily on Reduction.

We stripped away everything that wasn’t essential. No heavy plastic casings, no wasted space. The speaker is modular, and repairable.

• The Material Harmony: A 3mm acrylic mirror, a single 4mm stainless steel bracket, two rubber rings and an 18mm solid oak base. Raw, honest materials that age beautifully and can be easily disassembled for recycling or component upgrades.
• The Mailbox Footprint: The entire speaker was geometrically optimized to fit flat-packed inside a single A4+ mailbox box. By eliminating bulky styrofoam packaging and reducing shipping volume by 80%, we drastically lower the carbon footprint of every drop.

True luxury involves interaction. The SP-01 arrives at your doorstep in a slim, beautifully branded flat-pack parcel. Unboxing it is a tactile introduction to KODE’s philosophy.

With no tools required, you slot the stainless steel bracket into the hand-finished oak base, suspend the mirror, and plug in the cable. Within two minutes, you have transitioned from a spectator to an active participant in the object’s creation.

Inside the box, you will find your official Collector’s Certificate, hand-numbered and signed by creators and KODE founders Bas Kortmann and Fokka Deelen.
